A WORD BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Every man and every woman faces decisions, seasons and battles that demand more wisdom than we naturally possess. The good news of the Gospel is that God has not left us to work life out alone. He has placed His counsel within us and has given us His Word, His Spirit and His people to help us draw it out.

Over the next thirty-one days you will meet the counsel of God from many angles: as a deep well within the heart, as a name of the Lord Jesus, as the voice of the Holy Spirit, as the wisdom of godly counsellors, as a warning through the failures of men like Rehoboam, and as a promise that leads to an expected end. Each day is designed to be read slowly, prayed over and put into practice.

Do not rush. The Scripture says that Proverbs 20:5.

​"Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out." (King James Version) and deep water cannot be drawn in a hurry. Give these pages a quiet place and a few unhurried minutes each day, and expect the Lord to meet you there.

Read the day’s scripture aloud, slowly and with expectation.

Consider the focus of thought and let it settle in your heart.

Read the devotional explanation prayerfully, noting what speaks to you.

Pray the prayer point with faith, and add your own words.

Speak the prophetic declaration aloud, and carry it with you through the day.
