About this Publication

A WORD TO THE YOUNG READER

Dear Friend,

You are growing up in a world that is loud, fast, and often confused. Every day, many voices compete for your attention and tell you who to be, what to want, and how to live. In the middle of it all, God has something better to say to you. He says that you were made on purpose, and that you were built to shine.

This devotional was written for children and teenagers who want to walk with Jesus in real life: in the classroom, at home, among friends, and online. Each day gives you a Scripture to hold, a thought to carry, a prayer to pray, and a declaration to speak over your life.

The Bible describes God’s Word as milk for the growing believer: “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby” (1 Peter 2:2). That is the heart of this series. Small portions, taken faithfully every day, produce a strong and healthy faith.

Over the thirty-one days of October, you will discover who you are in Christ, learn to stand firm against temptation and peer pressure, grow in courage, and begin to see the purpose God has for your life. My prayer is that by the end of the month you will not only know that you are a light, but that you will be living like one.

Yours in Christ,

Pastor Goodness Eni

HOW TO USE THIS DEVOTIONAL

Find a quiet moment. Choose a time each day, such as the morning before school or the evening before bed, and keep it as your appointment with God.

Read the Scripture aloud. Read the text slowly, twice if you can, and let the words settle in your heart.

Think on the Focus of Thought. This one sentence is the seed for the day. Carry it with you.

Read the explanation. Ask yourself, “What is God saying to me today?” Keep your Bible and a notebook nearby.

Pray the Prayer Point. Make it your own by adding your personal requests in your own words.

Speak the Prophetic Declaration. Say it out loud with faith, and let your words agree with what God says about you.

Put it into practice. Choose one thing to do that day that lets the light shine.

For parents, teachers, and children’s ministry leaders: this devotional can be read aloud with younger children and discussed together. Ask them what the Scripture means, how the day’s lesson applies to their school and friendships, and pray the declaration over them.
