DO NOT FOLLOW THE CROWD
“"Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest judgment: Neither shalt thou countenance a poor man in his cause." — Exodus 23:2–3 (KJV)”
Popularity does not determine what is right; God's Word does. Even when others do not believe or obey God, choose to stand courageously with Him.
Following the crowd can feel safe because nobody wants to be rejected, mocked, or left out. At school, online, or among friends, you may feel pressured to support an ungodly trend, laugh at an offensive joke, bully someone, cheat in an examination, or hide your faith. However, God commands you not to join others in doing wrong simply because many people are doing it.
A crowd can be loud and still be wrong. In Exodus 23:2–3, God taught His people to resist group pressure and uphold justice without showing dishonest favouritism. He cares about both your actions and your judgment. You must not twist the truth to please popular people, and you must not distort justice because of emotion or personal preference.
Standing alone for what is right requires courage, but you are never truly alone when you stand with God. Daniel refused to defile himself in Babylon, and his decision influenced others positively. In the same way, your godly conviction can become a light to your friends. You do not need to insult people or act self-righteous; you can remain respectful while firmly refusing to compromise.
Before joining a trend, reposting content, accepting advice, or following your friends, ask: Does this agree with God's Word? Does it honour Christ? Will it strengthen or damage my character? Let Scripture—not likes, comments, fear, or peer pressure—guide your choices. Even if others do not believe, you can believe. Even if others compromise, you can stand for truth.
I am courageous, discerning, and firmly rooted in God's Word. I will not be controlled by trends, fear, or peer pressure; I will stand for Christ, choose what is right, and shine as a godly influence in my generation! In Jesus name Amen.
